International Player Cameron Green, Biggest Catch For IPL Season 2026
The bigger news is from Australia, as Cameron Green, an Australian player, is making a comeback in the 2026 IPL season. On the contrary, another big Australian all-rounder has announced his withdrawal from the IPL. However, Cameron Green is in the limelight, as he didn’t participate in the 2025 mega auction. Because he was recovering from a back injury, for that reason, he has been called the most sought-after player for this IPL season. Green is the all-rounder player and has been a strong opponent in the field. The news is that, in KKR franchises, he will be an obvious replacement for Andre Russell.
According to a report by ESPNcricinfo, the two franchises, Kolkata Knight Riders and Chennai Super Kings, have the upper hand in auctions. Because these two have the largest purse balance: KKR (64.3 crore) and CSK (43.4 crore). It reflects that it can trigger the bidding war for Aussie all-rounders.
Green has been sought after as KKR has 12 slots to fill, including six overseas. Besides, Green has been the best fit to step in for West Indies T20 legend Andre Russell, who is not playing this season but is with the franchises as a power coach. The KKR has also released Venkatesh Iyer to free up a considerable 23.5 Crore INR.
While for Chennai, Green would be viewed as the potential replacement in place of England all-rounder Sam Curran. Whom franchises have traded as part of the Ravindra Jadeja-Sanju Samson deal with the Rajasthan Royals.
This list of 45 men, all under the base price of Rs. 2 crore, includes only two names: Venkatesh Iyer, who KKR has released. Another one is Ravi Bishnoi, who was the spinner for Lucknow Super Giants last season for INR 11 crore. However, he was released this year due to a unsatisfactory season.
All-Rounder Glenn Maxwell Announced End of 13-Year IPL Stint
As for another big news from Australia, all-rounder Glenn Maxwell has officially announced that he will withdraw his name from this IPL season. He announced the news by sharing an Instagram post thanking franchises and his fans for their support over the years. Maxwell has been part of IPL for 13 consecutive years after making his debut in 2013. He has played for multiple franchises, including the Mumbai Indians, the Punjab Kings, and the Royal Challengers Bangalore. This announcement has ended his long-standing involvement in the tournament. In his message, he wrote:
“After many unforgettable seasons in IPL, I’ve decided not to put my name into the auction this year. It’s a big call, and one I make with a lot of gratitude for everything this league has given me,”
“The IPL has helped shaped me as a cricketer and as a person. I’ve been lucky to play with world-class teammates, and perform in front of fans whose passion is unmatched. The memories, the challenges, and the energy of India will stay with me forever. Thank you all for your support over the years, hopefully see you soon.”
This decision by Maxwell has come after an unforgettable 2025 IPL campaign. He last played for the Punjab Kings, which bought him for ₹4.20 Crore. The all-rounder appeared in seven matches and delivered his final performance in the 2025 IPL.
Glenn Maxwell’s exit has added another name to our list of overseas opt-out candidates. Followed by Faf du Plessis, who withdrew his name earlier to participate in the Pakistan Premier League. Another name is Moeen Ali, who has also opted out of IPL to participate in PPL. Furthermore, the list includes Andre Russell, a West Indian all-rounder, who also officially retired from playing in the IPL. His decision was followed by the KKR decision to release him before the 2026 IPL auction. However, he didn’t completely remove himself from the IPL tournament. He has joined the KKR franchise as part of its support staff.
